Sadek Mohamed , Sara (2018) Refugees, Civil Society and the State: Rethinking Challenges and Prospects in Egypt. PhD thesis, University of York.
Abstract
The thesis aims to investigate the responses of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to shrinking spaces. It focuses on Egypt as a case study between 2014 and 2017. The study looks at human rights and legal aid CSOs, but particularly focuses on CSOs concerned with refugees in Egypt. It brings a different angle of analysis by going beyond discourses of human rights crackdown in Egypt towards critically assessing their roles in promoting the prospects of their target groups.
