Spatial Proximity, Intangibles and Networks in Venture Capital Investments

This thesis mainly consists of three empirical studies based on the UK data on venture capital investments (VCs) from 2011 to 2018. In recent decades, investments in intangible assets have exceeded that in tangible assets in the major developed economies. The aim of the first two studies is to analyze the spatial proximity of venture capital investments in the rich-intangible economy, and the third study is to explore the monitoring effects of venture capital on investees’ intangible assets.
