Copies of Census related products and services, hereafter described as the products, are supplied by the Census organisations subject to the following general conditions:
Conditions of supply of 2001 Census Area Classification of Output Areas
All the Census material[1] in this product is Crown copyright and is subject to the following conditions.
There is no restriction on the use of the material in this product except that:
- a click-use or distribution licence[2] must be obtained for re-use and publication[3];
- an end-user licence issued under a click-use licence or distribution licence must contain these terms and conditions;
- copyright and source must be acknowledged[4] on publication;
- all 2001 Census statistics incorporate measures to protect against the inadvertent disclosure of information relating specifically to an identified person or household. The material shall not be used to attempt to derive information relating specifically to an identified person or household, nor shall a claim be made that such information has been obtained or derived;
The Census Organisations use anti-virus software to safeguard against any viruses being included in the original material, but does not accept liability for any loss or damage arising from any virus which may be present in the material

The rights on the disc and in any material drawn from it which conveys statistical information identified as from the Census or recognisably from it remains the property of the Crown. |

Distribution licences are available free from Census Customer Services, ONS, Segensworth Road, Titchfield, Fareham, Hampshire, PO15 5RR, telephone 01329 813800 or email census.licensing@ons.gov.uk and, in addition to covering re-use and publication, authorise the licence holder to sub-licence third parties to re-use and publish Census material. |

Re-use includes reproducing the products in a wide variety of ways including, but not limited to, photocopying for research or private study, and copying by libraries. It also includes making the products and any material derived from the products available on an electronic network or an intranet. Publishing includes issuing copies (either in whole or in part) or making the products or any material derived from the products available to third parties. |

The Census organisations will replace, free of charge, any medium on which the abstracts are supplied which is not in accordance with the specification given by the Census organisation, provided that the Census organisation is informed within a three month period following receipt of the abstracts. The Census organisation will not accept responsibility for any loss or expense incurred consequent on the supply of faulty material or in inaccuracies in the information in the abstracts or on the physical condition of any medium on which the abstracts are supplied. |
The Census Offices reserve their rights in all circumstances, and the relevant organisation's Census Customer Services should be contacted where there is any doubt about the interpretation of these conditions.
