About this serviceWhite Rose Etheses Online holds electronic doctoral level theses from the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. The service is at a relatively early stage in its development.During summer 2008, many theses are being digitised by the British Library. These theses will form the basis of the British Library's new electronic thesis service - EThOS (Electronic Theses Online Service). Copies of the digitised theses will be supplied back to the relevant Universities. Digitised theses for Leeds, Sheffield and York will be made freely available from this service. We are anticipating several hundred digitised theses from the three White Rose Universities to be made available both from the British Library and from White Rose Etheses Online during Autumn/Winter 08/09. New PhD theses will also be added as these become available. All three institutions are on the way to introducing the voluntary deposit of electronic copies of theses in addition to hard copy. University of Sheffield has adopted a policy for new PhD registrants from 2008 requiring electronic deposit of theses.
